Arizona Massage Therapy Schools

If you live in the Western U.S. and are looking for a career in natural healing, there are many exciting options awaiting you in Arizona massage therapy schools. You will discover numerous massage schools in Arizona ready to provide you with the basic foundations of the practical and theoretical skills for success as a massage therapist. You can learn the skills and techniques used by professionals, and quickly begin a massage therapy career of your own.

You will find that Arizona massage therapy schools provide many choices in various methods of massage. Initial courses will entail classroom lectures and laboratory studies in anatomy, physiology, and psychology. Additional courses may include theory and practice of massage, hydrotherapy, kinesiology, pathology, hygiene, and first aid. Your massage studies will include hands-on clinical practice under the supervision of an instructor, where you will learn to perform massage therapy like a professional.

Upon completion of core courses, you may be able to choose a specialization, such as Shiatsu, Thai, Swedish, sports, cranial sacral, deep tissue massage, chair massage, or other forms of massage therapy. Some will even offer studies in other, more advanced natural healing techniques, such as acupuncture or chiropractic.

Massage therapy schools in every state are responsible for requesting inspection of their schools and their programs for accreditation. You should choose only an accredited school for completion of your education in massage therapy, as certification from a non-accredited school will not be as highly valued. Certification from one of the accredited massage schools will give you the edge when it comes to opportunities for employment.

In 2003, Arizona legislators adopted a state-wide system of licensure for massage therapists. Professional massage therapists no longer have to contend with the varying rules and regulations imposed by city and county jurisdictions. However, if you plan to practice in the massage, regardless of the region, make sure you check with local and state authorizing so that you may adhere to all regulations in effect in your area of practice.
